Welcome

Hello! I'd like to welcome you to my page. My hope is for anyone that happens upon this to be met where they are and challenged by a new thought or two. My name is Savanna and I've been writing ever since I can remember. Whether it was a poem, journal entry, school essay or original song from my childhood, writing always brought me a new way to communicate something within. Writing is something we can all do and all use as a form of expression or reflection, whether simple or complex. It wasn't until recent years where writing truly helped me to understand more of myself and the world around me. My world consists of many different things but I find the most important things to be my beliefs and the people around me. These, along with the experiences I have, are usually the things I write about. I am a young woman that lives in Florida, practices Catholicism and studies elementary education. Empty Spaces

Brokenness is human. It's normal. What we do with our brokenness is our choice, yes. We have the choice to walk away from it or even try to forget it as if it wasn't a part of our life. We have the choice to embrace it as our own, not as who we are, but as a part of our story. Brokenness is meant to be dealt with gently; our healing is shaped uniquely to each of our own beings. The only injustice to brokenness is when we choose to not face it by filling the empty spaces the brokenness creates with distractions. The empty spaces call to us and ask us to sit in the brokenness to know that we do not have to be afraid. Be not afraid. Be not afraid of brokenness. For empty spaces in soil that are tended to become gardens , which once were graves .

The Passion

I was recently reflecting on the Passion of Jesus and what aspects of His suffering stood out to me. I couldn't help but think that God was speaking through every word and person there, to us now. Through the seven last words of Jesus, God speaks to us of who He is and what He calls us to.   1. "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)- Mercy   2. "Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." (Luke 23:43)- Conversion   3. "Woman behold your son, Son, behold, your mother!" (John 19:26-27)- Devotion to Mary and honoring of women   4. "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46)- Crying out to the Father in suffering   5. "I thirst!" (John 19:28)- Loving until the point of thirst    6. "It is finished!" (John 19:30)- He finishes and wins our battles  7. "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit." (Luke 23:46)- Offering our...
